The local branch of The Arc started in 1957 when volunteers saw a need for better programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Now, it is a dedicated organization that helps these individuals and their families reach their full potential through advocacy, education, and support.
The Arc of Buncombe County aims to empower children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping them achieve life, liberty, and happiness. While progress has been made, many still struggle to attain these rights due to past discrimination.
The Arc of Buncombe County is committed to supporting individuals through education, family help, and programs that improve their lives, while also advocating for their rights to equal treatment under the law.
